On May 10th, 2019, the U.S. government announced an escalation of the tariffs imposed in September 2018 for goods imported from China. This escalation increases the existing 301-3 tariffs from 10% to 25%.
As you may know, SnapAV pays the tariffs on products, components, or materials imported from China, and while we are continually pursuing ways to mitigate these costs, such as adjusting our global supply chain, these changes take time and investment.
In an effort to better serve you, we’ll continue to absorb the cost of this recent tariff escalation until next month. However, effective July 9, 2019, we will be making minimal pricing adjustments to offset these additional costs. Because tariffs impact products differently, these adjustments will vary across a subset of categories and range from a 0-10% change. We estimate an average purchasing cost increase of roughly 2%.
Although the U.S. government is also reviewing additional tariffs, we believe that being a good partner to you means only raising prices when necessary. For that reason, we will not make pricing adjustments on proposed tariffs, only on those that have been enacted.
We understand this will have an impact on your business, and want to reiterate
the following commitments to you:
- We will adjust the MSRP on affected products to maintain your profits
- We will continue to monitor tariffs, and re-evaluate and adjust prices if/when they are reduced or eliminated
- We will continue to pursue other ways to reduce the impact, including alternative sourcing and filing for customs exclusions where appropriate
- We will continue to invest in new products and services that help dealers
- We will maintain the integrity and quality of our products and will not cut corners
- We will continue to invest in the award-winning services you’ve come to expect from us, including customer and tech support
