Starting April 23, 2024, Control4 Connect will be required for all newly registered Control4 systems in the United States.
As a result, the controller registration process will only be done through OvrC, which offers more efficiency and security. This will require a one-time mapping of your Control4 and OvrC accounts and include advanced features such as temporary credentials for the Control4 app and the customer handoff process. If your accounts are not linked, check out this tutorial.
Specifications for new systems that haven’t been handed off to customers yet:
- All new systems must be registered through OvrC and will include Control4 Connect. No new systems can be registered through Composer Pro, Composer Express, my.control4.com, or customer.control4.com
- Any systems that began registration in OvrC prior to April 23rd will include Control4 Connect when they are handed off to the customer. The customer will need to pay for Connect in the app
- If a system was registered in Composer prior to April 23rd, setup can be completed in Composer. These systems will NOT include Control4 Connect
Specifications for existing systems:
- Systems installed prior to April 23rd without Connect can continue to have 4Sight licenses applied through new purchase or renewal by the integrator or end customer
- Systems installed prior to April 23rd without Connect can add new devices, replace devices, and replace/add/upgrade controllers – this will not activate Control4 Connect
- If a system has been registered through Composer, it can be unregistered and re-registered using Composer – this will not activate Control4 Connect
- If a system transfers to a new Customer, it will activate Control4 Connect (whether it had Connect previously or not)
