With these enhancements, OvrC Pro supports SNMP v3 and streamlines the configurations of SNMP v1 and V2 communities. What is SNMP?
SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) is a standard protocol used to monitor and manage devices on a network; think routers, switches, wireless access points, printers, and more. By configuring SNMP, OvrC Pro can gather richer data from your devices, making troubleshooting more accurate and providing a clearer picture of your entire network.
For those less familiar with networking, it helps to know that OvrC has always supported SNMP v1 and v2. However, setting them up was tricky, and the data sent over the network wasn’t encrypted. That’s where SNMP v3 comes in: it introduces encryption and lets you use unique usernames and passwords for each device, making your network more secure.

More Secure Communication: OvrC Pro now supports advanced SNMP functionality, enabling more secure communication with compatible devices.
Easy Configuration: Integrators can enter the v3 username, authentication method, and optional privacy/encryption settings directly in OvrC.
Custom Community Strings: You can now define custom community strings in OvrC that match your device’s configuration. Previously, devices had to be set to use the default community string before you could enter a custom string in OvrC. Now, you can enter the correct community string right away, making setup faster and more flexible.
Simplified Onboarding: This reduces trial-and-error during device onboarding and ensures OvrC Pro communicates properly with all SNMP-enabled hardware.
SNMP Tab: The SNMP tab is now available for every discovered device (3P) in OvrC Pro, making it easier to update credentials anytime.
Additional Agent Improvements
Better Discovery: We’ve made small improvements and bug fixes to the OvrC Pro agent, boosting the consistency and accuracy of device scanning and monitoring.
