Updated Process to Change the Dealer of Record

We are rolling out some changes to streamline and secure the process to change the dealer-of-record to ensure an efficient, informed, and secure procedure for migrating customer accounts to a different integrator. These changes:

  • Establish necessary safeguards and limit unauthorized access
  • Ensure that the Customer always has custody of their own system
  • Improve data security for Customer systems
  • Ensure that we are in compliance with today’s changes privacy laws going into effect around the globe

For information on changing the dealer of record for a Control4 Customer, check out this article in the KnowledgeBase: https://ctrl4.co/change-dealer-of-record

As before, the OvrC Customer Account Migration is done onsite at the customer’s location using the OvrC Pro Hub, but will now enjoy a more comprehensive transfer. The migration will now transfer:

  • The entire Customer Site to your OvrC Account, along with account and user permissions to access it
  • All claimed devices (including those that are disconnected), all system and device notes, activity logs, and all site-wide configurations, including Wi-Fi Management, MolP, and Luma
  • All Users created for OvrC Connect and Luma View

Transparent communication of the completed customer migration will be sent to all parties involved, including the previous dealer-of-record.

The process for Araknis/Binary/Clare/Episode/Luma/OvrC/Sunbrite/Triad/Wattbox account transfers through OvrC is the same process you have been using, but now improved to transfer the entire Customer Site and not just the Device List.

The Customer:

  • Finds a new Integrator, using our Customer Advocacy Team (866.424.4489) as needed

The Integrator executes a Customer Account Migration:

  • Create a new Customer Site in OvrC
  • Click DEVICE LIST and then ADD NEW DEVICE
  • Add the OvrC Pro Hub – already claimed to the dealership – into the network
  • Goes to the Customer’s home or business
  • Connects that OvrC Pro Hub to the network
  • In the PRO TOOLS click BEGIN SYSTEM TAKEOVER
  • Execute a NETWORK SCAN and verify the transfer
  • Update the OvrC Pro Agent in the SITE SETTINGS to be the Customer’s Araknis Router or OvrC Pro Hub
  • Execute one more Execute a NETWORK SCAN
  • Delete the OvrC Pro Hub from the Device List, disconnect it from the network, and take it with you for the next job
