Below are four common red flags for scams when interacting with potential customers.
Red Flag #1: High-quantity or high-value products needed quickly
Action: If you receive a large order from a new customer, confirm their identity through independent sources such as known referrals, online reviews, or trusted websites.
Red Flag #2: Suspicious shipping arrangements
Action: Inquire about the nature of orders requested to be shipped directly to end customers, those with expressed urgency, or requests for overnight shipment. Urgency can be a way to commit fraud before it is discovered.
Red Flag #3: Purchases without installation
Action: Be suspicious of any request that does not include installation. Snap One policy is that all products must be installed and supported by a Partner.
Red Flag #4: Unauthorized forms of payment
Action: Verify payment information matches the customer and consider requesting proof of identification. Leverage fraud protection services and other best practices available through your payment processor. Note: unauthorized credit card or wire transfers can be reversed if flagged for fraud.
