Managing third-party devices with OvrC Pro is now more straightforward and secure, thanks to our latest update. With these enhancements, OvrC Pro supports SNMP v3 and streamlines the configurations of SNMP v1 and V2 communities. Here’s what you need to know about these updates and how they benefit your business:

What is SNMP?

SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) is a standard protocol used to monitor and manage devices on a network; think routers, switches, wireless access points, printers, and more. By configuring SNMP, OvrC Pro can gather richer data from your devices, making troubleshooting more accurate and providing a clearer picture of your entire network.

For those less familiar with networking, it helps to know that OvrC has always supported SNMP v1 and v2. However, setting them up was tricky, and the data sent over the network wasn’t encrypted. That’s where SNMP v3 comes in: it introduces encryption and lets you use unique usernames and passwords for each device, making your network more secure.

• More Secure Communication: OvrC Pro now supports advanced SNMP functionality, enabling more secure communication with compatible devices.

• Easy Configuration: Integrators can enter the v3 username, authentication method, and optional privacy/encryption settings directly in OvrC.

Configurable Credentials for SNMP v1 and v2

• Custom Community Strings: You can now define custom community strings in OvrC that match your device’s configuration. Previously, devices had to be set to use the default community string before you could enter a custom string in OvrC. Now, you can enter the correct community string right away, making setup faster and more flexible.

• Simplified Onboarding: This reduces trial-and-error during device onboarding and ensures OvrC Pro communicates properly with all SNMP-enabled hardware.

• SNMP Tab: The SNMP tab is now available for every discovered device (3P) in OvrC Pro, making it easier to update credentials anytime.

Additional Agent Improvements

• Better Discovery: We’ve made small improvements and bug fixes to the OvrC Pro agent, boosting the consistency and accuracy of device scanning and monitoring.

Single Device Transfer

OvrC Enhancement: Auto-Claim and Device Reclaim Controls

OvrC just got even more flexible and secure with enhanced Auto-Claim Controls and a new Device Reclaim workflow. These features give integrators greater control over which devices are assigned to locations, streamline device management, and eliminate the need for support tickets or site takeovers when reclaiming hardware.

Overview

With the latest update, integrators can:

• Turn Auto-Claim on or off at the location level

• Easily reclaim devices that were previously claimed elsewhere

This means devices can be assigned or reassigned quickly and accurately, reducing errors and saving time.

Auto-Claim Controls

Auto-Claim automatically recognizes devices on the network and securely adds them to a location when an OvrC Pro agent is installed using validated identifiers. Now, Auto-Claim can be enabled or disabled per location. When Auto-Claim is off, OvrC Pro will still detect devices on the network, but won't claim them automatically. Instead, a banner appears in the location showing unclaimed devices with an option for integrators to manually review and claim one or more devices.

Why It Matters

• Keeps device lists clean and organized

• Prevents accidental claims in staging or shared environments

• Ensures only supported or intended devices are added to a location

Where to Find Auto-Claim

Auto-Claim settings are accessible in two places:

1. Add/Edit Location

• Go to Locations

• Select a location

• Click Edit Location

• Find Auto-Claim discovered devices under Location Details

2. Remote Management

• Go to Locations

• Select a location

• Go to Categories > Remote Management > Configuration

• Under Network Scans (must be enabled), find Auto-Claim discovered devices

Note: Auto-Claim is ON by default.

Device Reclaim

Device Reclaim makes it simple to reassign any individual device to the correct customer or location in seconds, no impact to the rest of the network and no support ticket required. When OvrC detects a device on your network that’s already claimed elsewhere, a banner appears, allowing integrators to reclaim it to the current location. You can reclaim one, many, or all applicable devices in a single step.

Note: Device Reclaim does not copy the device name, notes, or activity logs from the previous location.

• Quickly correct device ownership

• Eliminate delays from support involvement

• Ensure devices that move or are repurposed are always claimed to the right location

The legacy Wirepath WPS‑DVR application for Apple iOS has entered its End‑of‑Life (EOL) phase. The app will be delisted from the Apple App Store on April 29, 2026.

Key Updates: 

Apple iOS App Functionality After April 29^th, 2026

• The app will be delisted from the Apple App Store

• Existing installations will continue to function as they currently do, provided the app remains installed on the customer’s iOS device

• Customers will not be able to re-download the app if it is deleted or if they switch devices

End of Support:  

Beginning April 29, 2026, ADI will no longer provide support for the Wirepath WPS‑DVR app on Apple iOS. This includes:

• Technical support 

• Troubleshooting assistance 

• Configuration or setup guidance
